Summary of Position:
The Head Men’s Lacrosse Coach is responsible for all aspects of planning, managing, and developing a successful intercollegiate sports program in accordance with the standards and goals set by William Peace University.
Essential duties and responsibilities:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
● Conduct the program abiding by all NCAA, USA South Athletic Conference, and William Peace University rules and Regulations.
● Recruit quality student-athletes by personal contact, phone and written correspondence with player, coach, and parents. Evaluate the ability of prospects in person or through videotape analysis. Make frequent off-campus trips to watch games/matches/meets. Arrange on-campus visits for prospective student-athletes with the office of admissions. Ensure compliance with NCAA guidelines for contacting and entertaining prospects.
● Coordinate roster goals annually with the Director of Athletics which are in line with enrollment goals of the University.
● Submit Yearly Plan for Program and Recruiting as assigned by Director.
● Schedule games, practices, facility, and vehicle use in conjunction with the Director of Athletics and other University staff.
● Oversees with the Athletic Trainer and Strength Coach, a conditioning program to ensure that athletes are physically prepared for competition.
● Oversee the selection, purchase, fitting and maintenance of team equipment including uniforms and supplies. Submit equipment and budget requests to the Director of Athletics.
● Ensure the safety of student-athletes and staff through careful monitoring of the condition of equipment and facilities utilized by Lacrosse.
● Oversee the rehabilitation, in conjunction with the Athletic Trainer, to ensure that injured athletes are capable and ready to return to practice/games.
● Develop a competitive schedule in conjunction with the Director of Athletics.
● Coordinate team travel.
● Prepare game plans based on scouting reports and team evaluation.
● Monitor the eligibility status and promote the academic progress of student-athletes.
● Compile and report statistical data after each game/season.
● Assist with approved fundraising activities, as requested.
● Participate in, organize, and lead clinics, exhibitions, and camps, as approved.
● Attend Athletic Department staff meetings.
● Effectively work with a diverse population of students, employees, visitors, and guests.
● Promote your program with vigor.
● Involvement in all activities conducted by the Athletic Department including Admissions events, Sports Award Banquet, PACER Events, Homecoming, Parents Weekend, and Alumni events.
● Assign and ensure attendance of your program at SAAC, Department and William Peace University Meetings
● Update team and student records with the sports Information Department
● Responsible for knowing and following the guidelines in the Coaches Handbook and the William Peace University Employee Handbook
● Other Duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics

Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds regularly and up to 75 pounds occasionally.

• Ability to demonstrate proper techniques and form of exercises.

Work is mostly performed outdoors with occasional exposure to adverse climate and weather conditions such as wind, sun, and hot or cold temperatures and with noise levels varying from moderate to loud.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
AED, CPR and First Aid certification per NCAA regulations. All registrations required by NCAA and USA South Athletic Conference.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s Degree
• Two years collegiate coaching experience
• Highly organized and detail oriented
• Excellent communication skills
Preferred Qualifications:
● Master’s Degree
● Head Coaching Experience
