Triangle Ultimate provides Ultimate Frisbee leagues, programs, and outreach to adults and children across the Triangle region of North Carolina. As a non-profit, our mission is to collaboratively build a community emphasizing accessibility, relationships, and engagement through learning, playing, and teaching the sport of Ultimate. Since 1996, we’ve helped to grow opportunities to play the sport of Ultimate in our area and expanded participation at the youth and adult levels. We are fortunate to have a very vibrant and active Ultimate scene in the Triangle.

General Responsibilities:

Triangle Ultimate seeks an energetic individual to oversee all youth program management. This position will direct, improve, and expand youth programming, manage youth coordinator staff and associates, and foster an engaged community of coaches and volunteers. The Youth Director will work alongside the Executive Director, Community Relations Director, and Operations Director, to ensure that programs are executed and align with Triangle Ultimate's mission and vision emphasizing accessibility, engagement and relationships.

Responsibilities

In this full time position, the Youth Director will be responsible for:

  • Administration

    • Create and manage event registration website pages

    • Create and manage budgets for programs, staff, and supplies in coordination with staff

    • Work with Executive Director and Community Relations Director to further impact through financial accessibility and scholarships, including Pay-What-You-Can programs

  • People Management & Communication

    • Manage additional Youth related positions (including School-Based Coordinator, Coaching Development Associate, and Regional Youth Coordinators)
    • Recruit, retain, and support the ever-growing number of coaches, both paid and volunteer, in the Triangle Ultimate community
    • Lead and grow the Triangle Ultimate Youth Committee to foster a committed group of community members invested in the success of Youth Ultimate in the Triangle
    • Provide regular reports to Executive Director, Board of Directors, and Youth Committee
    • Coordinate and work with parents, volunteers, youth players, and other TU committees (i.e. marketing) and coaches
    • Customer service, including pre-program emails to families, weather updates, changes in event logistics, and safety issues. Address questions and concerns in a manner that is direct and understandable to facilitate positive outcomes.
  • Program Management

    • Coordinate and grow Triangle Ultimate’s 4 main buckets of Youth Programming – Youth Rec Programs, School-based Programs, Youth Club Programs, and Youth Camp Programs
    • Oversee the registration process, coach recruitment and staffing, and implement on-site check-ins to maintain and improve program quality
    • Overarching Youth Program Planning – lead cross-program coordination, communicate and market pathways between youth programs, and create new programs & events to meet the demands of Youth Players and to support the growth of Youth Ultimate
    • Develop new program partnerships and work to expand programming into potential new markets/locations within the Triangle

Minimum qualifications:

  • Experience coordinate youth athletics leagues
  • Experience in an administrative or leadership role
  • Strong interpersonal skills, conflict resolution skills, and ability to considerately choose communication style and content based on the situation and person(s) involved
  • Experience in volunteer & staff recruitment and/or management
  • Experience managing event and/or program budgets \
  • Excellent ability to manage time, work independently, and manage multiple projects at the same time
  • Strong decision-making skills and ability to delegate tasks to staff and volunteers
  • Knowledge, experience, understanding, and/or love for Ultimate frisbee
