Job Description
We are seeking adjuncts to teach Psychology in-person classes. We are looking for individuals with prior experience teaching in higher education, who are committed to education equity in culturally diverse communities.

Responsibilities:

  • Instructs and guides the class in an efficient and effective manner
  • Maintains accurate records of student work and attendance
  • Prepares thoroughly for each instructional hour
  • Maintains a safe and orderly learning environment
  • Create and model a quality learning environment that supports a diverse student population
  • Prepare, distribute and utilize instructional support materials, including course syllabi, supplementary materials, instructional media and other devices as appropriate
  • Conduct appropriate assessment of student learning outcomes in courses and programs/general education as appropriate
  • Grades and returns student work in a timely manner
  • Advise students regarding their grades and progress in the course
  • Designs curriculum and a schedule of instruction
  • Uses assessment techniques to improve learning and teaching
  • Maintains communication with internal department instructors, professors, and chairs to keep courses up-to-date and appropriate
  • Select and use appropriate learning materials and resources, including library resources, equipment, and supplies to enhance learning and to maintain program currency
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor, the dean, or the Vice President of Academic Affairs

Saint Augustine’s University (SAU), drawing on its rich legacy as an access institution, is a student-focused, comprehensive educational institution that produces outstanding graduates prepared for personal and professional success. SAU was established in 1867 in Raleigh, NC by the Episcopal Diocese of North Carolina. Required Qualifications
  • The successful applicant will have a Ph.D. in Psychology or a Master’s degree in Psychology with at least 18 Credit hours of graduate psychology courses.
  • Demonstrated effective oral and written skills
Preferred Qualifications
  • Proven ability to develop and deliver online courses
  • Previous higher education teaching and research experience; Understanding of higher education systems
  • Mentoring students for professional development, research, and academic success
Physical Demands
Walking, sitting, standing, squatting, and lifting a minimum of 25 pounds.
