Job Description
The Admission’s Recruiter is a member of the undergraduate admissions team and a communicator of the value of an education. This position is primarily responsible for identifying, recruiting, and selecting prospective students within an assigned recruitment territory to achieve the University’s mission and enrollment goals. This position adheres to all federal, state, and local laws and regulations governing college recruitment, especially those outlined by the university’s accrediting body, SACSCOC.

The successful candidate will contribute to the population of applicants and admitted and enrolled students within an assigned recruitment territory through use of the following methods; identifying prospective students, coordinating travel schedules and completing travel assignments, maintaining an aggressive campaign of written and telephone communication with prospective students and parents, assisting in the planning and implementation of on-campus and off-campus events, and reading applications and selecting students for admission to the University.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Serves as a member of the Admissions Team whose goal is to achieve enrollment goals for the University.
  • Develop and manage an effective plan for recruiting and enrolling new students from the assigned territory and schools.
  • Communicate the value of the University’s educational experience to a variety of constituents including prospective students, parents, school and college counselors, and other members of the University and external community.
  • Complete recruitment visits to high schools and/or community colleges, attend college fairs, area receptions, and events with the purpose of identifying prospective students who demonstrate potential for success at the University.
  • Advise prospective students about applicant and admission status, policies, and recruitment programs.
  • Conduct campus visits, interviews and advise students regarding next steps as applicable to individual students.
  • Facilitate the application process with students, parents, and high school counselors including resolution of problems that may arise during the process.
  • Provide and track aggressive follow up with targeted students and parents.
  • Provide admission presentations to visitors during their visit to campus including campus tours.
  • Represent the Office of Admissions in a public speaking capacity on and off campus.
  • Initiate, plan, and execute special projects as assigned and in conjunction with the goals and objectives of the office.
  • Read applications for admission, evaluate credentials, and render admission decisions.
  • Maintain a high level of knowledge of University information, organization, opportunities, and policies.
  • Adhere to University policies and procedures regarding travel and procurement.
  • Complete routine reports related to recruitment, personal schedule, and travel.
  • Serve on committees as assigned.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Characteristics of position and/or expectations:
  • Demonstrated experience with Ellucian products such as Colleague Recruit or similar CRM is required.
  • Excellent skills in the use of technology for connecting with prospects remotely such as MS Teams, Zoom or another similar platform.
  • Must have excellent interpersonal skills and be able to work with a diverse community.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in both spoken and written English.
  • Ability to listen well and evaluate a prospective student’s potential for success at SAU
  • Ability to understand University procedures and curricular offerings and be able to relate this information effectively to prospective students and families.
  • Must be able to understand and explain financial aid programs and eligibility criteria and use discernment regarding appropriate next steps as they may be applicable to admitted students and families.
  • Ability to travel to secondary schools and community colleges.
  • Ability to maintain an effective applicant tracking system.
  • Ability to plan and organize special events and activities.

Saint Augustine’s University (SAU), drawing on its rich legacy as an access institution, is a student-focused, comprehensive educational institution that produces outstanding graduates prepared for personal and professional success. Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Valid NC Driver’s license and a clear driving history is required.
  • Demonstrated experience working in a diverse academic environment, inclusive of students, faculty, and staff of varying social, economic, cultural, ideological, gender/sexuality, and ethnic backgrounds and identities.
  • Excellent verbal, listening, writing, problem-solving, and interpersonal communication skills.
