Job Description
The successful applicant will be responsible for teaching students in History courses at an Undergraduate level. The courses are part of our General Education requirement. The courses are a survey of the African American experience in and contributions to American history from the advent of the Trans-Atlantic slave trade through the Civil War or since the end of the Civil War.
Special consideration will be given to applicants who has teaching experience at the college level and specialized in African American history. Candidates must also have a master’s degree or Ph.D. in History with a strong commitment to undergraduate teaching.
We favor in-person teaching, but we will also consider online courses, synchronously or asynchronously, using Blackboard or Teams.

Responsibilities
  • Planning and teaching classes as assigned and as outlined in the course descriptions and course syllabi
  • Supervising the study and learning activities of students
  • Evaluating the academic progress of students
  • Submitting course grades and performing other administrative duties as required
  • Scheduling office hours
  • Providing reasonable accommodations to students with documented disabilities
  • Regularly communicating with the discipline coordinator on issues related to student performance.

Required Qualifications
  • Cultural sensitivity to diverse populations

  • Competence with Microsoft Outlook and Blackboard
  • Experience in distance learning teaching with Zoom or Teams or Blackboard Collaborate Ultra
  • Experience in in-person teaching in a “Smart Classroom” equipped with a laptop/screen/touching white board
