Job Description
The Department of Social Sciences (Political Science Program) at Saint Augustine’s University invites applications for a 9-month tenure-track Assistant Professor position to begin Fall 2023. The successful applicant must possess an established record of and/or show potential for strong teaching of survey and advanced undergraduate political science courses; demonstrate the ability/potential to publish in peer-reviewed academic journals; present research
at professional conferences; and pursue external grants at the state and national level

Duties assigned by the Chair of the Department of Social Sciences may include but are not
limited to:
  • Teaching introductory and advanced political science courses.
  • Participating in curriculum development for the purpose of maintaining a contemporary and comparable program of study.
  • Serving on departmental, school and university level committees
  • Advising students

Saint Augustine’s University (SAU), drawing on its rich legacy as an access institution, is a student-focused, comprehensive educational institution that produces outstanding graduates prepared for personal and professional success. Required Qualifications
  • Ph.D. in Political Science or a closely related field
  • Ability to use technology to perform necessary job duties
  • Demonstrated record of excellence in teaching, scholarship, and service
  • Experience teaching in both in-person and online methods
  • Strong and effective communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience using the Blackboard learning management system
Physical Demands
Walking, sitting, standing, squatting, and lifting a minimum of 25 pounds.
