Job Description	The Department of Social Sciences (Political Science Program) at Saint Augustine’s University invites applications for a 9-month tenure-track Assistant Professor position to begin Fall 2023. The successful applicant must possess an established record of and/or show potential for strong teaching of survey and advanced undergraduate political science courses; demonstrate the ability/potential to publish in peer-reviewed academic journals; present research at professional conferences; and pursue external grants at the state and national level Duties assigned by the Chair of the Department of Social Sciences may include but are not limited to: Teaching introductory and advanced political science courses. Participating in curriculum development for the purpose of maintaining a contemporary and comparable program of study. Serving on departmental, school and university level committees Advising students Saint Augustine’s University (SAU), drawing on its rich legacy as an access institution, is a student-focused, comprehensive educational institution that produces outstanding graduates prepared for personal and professional success. SAU was established in 1867 in Raleigh, NC by the Episcopal Diocese of North Carolina. A four-year liberal arts university with an average enrollment of approximately 1,000, SAU sits on 105 lush acres just north of Downtown Raleigh, NC. The institution offers more than 20 undergraduate degrees and a Master of Public Administration (MPA) Program and is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC). Additional Information: Employment is contingent upon a positive background check and proof of COVID-19 vaccination. Documentation of medical and religious exemptions will be accommodated. Required Qualifications	Ph.D. in Political Science or a closely related field Ability to use technology to perform necessary job duties Demonstrated record of excellence in teaching, scholarship, and service Experience teaching in both in-person and online methods Strong and effective communication skills
Preferred Qualifications	Experience using the Blackboard learning management system
Physical Demands	Walking, sitting, standing, squatting, and lifting a minimum of 25 pounds.
