Job Description
The Department of Public Health seeks an Adjunct Instructor/Professor to teach Public Health courses as assigned. These classes introduce students to the various aspects of public health including but not limited to health education theories/models, epidemiology, health disparities, social determinants of health, program planning and evaluation. Work assignments may include teaching daytime, evening, online, and hybrid classes. This position may include student advising and mentoring.

Saint Augustine’s University accepts application materials for adjunct employment on a continuing basis. These positions are temporary and do no accrue benefits.

Responsibilities:

  • Teach assigned classes in keeping with approved syllabi, outlines, and instructional materials
  • Report student problems to department chair
  • Maintain office hours
  • Attend meetings as scheduled
  • Engage in scholarly/creative activities
  • Other assigned Public Health courses

  • PHS 390 Research Methods in Public Health
  • PHS 475 Public Health Pre-Internship
  • PHS 450 Foundations In Epidemiology
  • PHS 335 Public Health Healthcare Policy & Ethics

Required Qualifications
  • Master’s Degree in Public Health, Health Education, or related field
  • Two to three years teaching experience at college level
  • Demonstrate effective oral and written communication skills
  • Basic Computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office and Blackboard
Preferred Qualifications
  • Terminal degree (Ph.D., DrPH)
  • More than three years teaching experience at college level
  • Proven ability to develop and teach online classes
  • Ongoing professional public health activity
