Position Overview
Primary Function of Organizational Unit
The primary purpose of this position is clinical education and supervision of graduate students in a speech-language pathology program.
Primary Purpose of Position
The Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders(CSD) offers a master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology. As one of the campuses of the University of North Carolina (UNC) system, North Carolina Central University is located in Durham near Research Triangle Park. The Department of Communication Science and Disorders (CSD)is a full-time, campus-based graduate program and features a curriculum that integrates research, evidence-based clinical experiences, and a focus on serving diverse populations. The Master of Science degree program in speech-language pathology is accredited by the Council on Academic Accreditation (CAA) in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association. The NCCU Speech, Language, and Hearing Clinic provides speech, language, and hearing evaluations and treatment services for monolingual and bilingual clients from birth through adult age.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Earned Master’s or doctorate degree in Speech-Language Pathology, Speech-Hearing Science, or Communication Science and Disorders. Candidates must have a Certificate of Clinical Competence in SLP, a minimum of three years of clinical experience as a Speech-Language Pathologist, and a minimum of two years of clinical supervision experience. Must meet the requirements for clinical supervision stated by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association and be eligible for North Carolina Licensure.
Minimum Education/Experience

Licenses or Certification required by Statute or Regulation
Certification- Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology from ASHA; possess or eligible for NC licensure in Speech-Language Pathology; documentation of two (2) hours of professional development/continuing education in clinical instruction/supervision if offered the position.
