| Primary Purpose of Position | The position will provide instruction in African American history and U.S. history, with the ability to teach North Carolina history, as well as department service courses. |
| Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities | The ability to teach courses in survey and upper-level African American/U.S. history, North Carolina history, and can place U.S. history within a larger global diasporic context. The ideal candidate will have: a research focus on pre-1900 African American history; the ability to direct research in African American history, Diaspora history, and U.S. history; excellent teaching skills; a commitment to advise and mentor students; and the ability to work with faculty and staff on efforts to retain students. |
