Position Overview
Primary Function of Organizational Unit
The Julius L. Chambers Biomedical/Biotechnology Research Institute (BBRI) is a 40,000 sq. ft. state-of-the-art research facility that is dedicated to expanding the University’s research capacity, particularly in the biomedical and biotechnology areas. The BBRI is a broad based multi-disciplinary research and training institute. The mission of the BBRI is to conduct multidisciplinary and inter-institutional research focused on health issues that disproportionately affect minority and underserved groups while providing students with research experiences that will enhance their access to careers in the biomedical sciences.
Primary Purpose of Position
This is a new EHRA Time-Limited position. The RCHDR requires a Scientist who will enhance population and behavior research infrastructure at NCCU.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Ability to plan, create, program and manage complex statistical computer databases.
• Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
• Ability to apply a range of standard statistical techniques in support of scientific research studies and/or experiments.
• Ability to process computer data and to format and generate reports.
• Ability to analyze and interpret statistical data.
• Knowledge of programming logic and codes.
• Knowledge of statistical sampling and survey methodology.
• Skills in the use of database management, etc.
Minimum Education/Experience
Earned master’s degree in biological sciences or related discipline with 3 (three) extensive years of experience administering biomedical and/or health disparities research.

Primary Responsibilities and Duties
Function Research
Describe the specific tasks and responsibilities related to the function.
The Research Scientist/Research Assistant Professor will assist in the design of research activities. This position will support and participate in population-based research activities, including needs assessments, program evaluations, data collection, analysis, and manuscript/report writing.
Function Administrative
Describe the specific tasks and responsibilities related to the function.
Responsibilities include assisting in increasing opportunities for research participation and engaging laboratory members to ensure an understanding of the benefits (and costs) of participating in research. The Research Scientist (Data) will work with leadership to enhance the population and behavior research infrastructure at NCCU. Ability to develop and manage productive and collaborative relationships both internally and externally with global health partners.
Function Information Technology
Describe the specific tasks and responsibilities related to the function.
Explore problems in computing and develop theories and models to address those problems. Collaborate with other scientists to solve complex computing problems. Determine computing needs and system requirements.
