Position Overview
Primary Function of Organizational Unit
The Julius L. Chambers Biomedical/Biotechnology Research Institute (BBRI) is a 40,000 sq. ft. state-of-the-art research facility that is dedicated to expanding the University’s research capacity, particularly in the biomedical and biotechnology areas. The BBRI is a broad based multi-disciplinary research and training institute. The mission of the BBRI is to conduct multidisciplinary and inter-institutional research focused on health issues that disproportionately affect minority and underserved groups while providing students with research experiences that will enhance their access to careers in the biomedical sciences.
Primary Purpose of Position
This is a new EHRA Time-Limited position. The RCHDR requires a Scientist who will enhance population and behavior research infrastructure at NCCU.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
A. Working with stakeholders (community, patient advocates, free clinics, Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs), UNC and Duke health systems)
B. Manage budget and staff for the PBERN
C. Coordination with complementary programs such as RCMI and Pfizer funded clinical research workforce grant
D. The Research Scientist position will be responsible for internally and externally, providing visionary thought leadership to steer Opioid Abatement Coordinating Center (OACC’s) course, representing the program within the organization as well as to external stakeholders across the state, and overseeing the daily operations of the program. Etc.

Minimum Education/Experience
Earned master’s degree in biological sciences or related discipline with 3 (three) extensive years of experience administering biomedical and/or health disparities research.

Function Research

The Research Scientist/Research Assistant Professor will assist in the design of research activities. This position will support and participate in population-based research activities, including needs assessments, program evaluations, data collection, analysis, and manuscript/report writing.
Function Administrative
Describe the specific tasks and responsibilities related to the function.
Responsibilities include assisting in increasing opportunities for research participation and engaging laboratory members to ensure understanding of the benefits (and costs) of participating in research. The Research Scientist will work with leadership to enhance population and behavior research infrastructure at NCCU.
Function Information Technology
Describe the specific tasks and responsibilities related to the function.
Explore problems in computing and develop theories and models to address those problems. Collaborate with scientists and engineers to solve complex computing problems. Determine computing needs and system requirements.
