Qualifications

Minimum qualifications:

  • 15 years of experience in software development, or 10 years with an advanced degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or Engineering.
  • Experience in technical leadership and setting technical direction for engineering projects.
  • Experience architecting, designing, and developing distributed systems.

Preferred qualifications:

About the job

In this role, you will work as an executive-level technical leader to drive long-term infrastructure cost efficiencies across Google Cloud Platform (GCP)'s products portfolio. You will Drive the technical strategy for GCP's product portfolio to achieve infrastructure cost efficiencies balanced with our customers' need for highly available and performant services.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $271,000-$399,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Lead a distributed team of engineers across the organization and Google Cloud Platform teams.
  • Encourage and maintain engineering excellence on the team to build reliable distributed systems that our customers can build their business on.
  • Partner with technical leaders within Google and the open source community and contribute to product/project strategy, roadmap definition, and requirements-gathering.
  • Develop design principles, set a uniform process for reviewing designs within software teams, and define standards for writing, sharing, and reviewing design documents.
  • Provide domain knowledge and engineering insight to guide early designs, accelerate project decision-making, and maintain close oversight of technical execution.
