Research helps ensure that medicines, treatment regimens, and related products available to patients are credible, safe, and effective. <br> <br> Clinical trial research assistants assist the clinical team with the preparation, handling, distribution, filing, and archiving of clinical documentation and reports according to the scope of work and standard operating procedures. They also assist with periodic review of study files for completeness.<br> <br> The Clinical Trials Research Associate (CTRA) curriculum prepares individuals to assist investigators and clinical researchers in the initiation, administration, coordination, and management of clinical research studies for the development of new drugs, clinical products, and treatment regimens. Course work includes in-depth study of drug development, federal regulations, good clinical practices, and clinical research processes.

At Durham Technical Community College, students can work their way toward a vocational certificate or a transfer to a four-year university to pursue a bachelor's degree. The choice is up to you, as is the choice of which of Durham's many academic programs to study!  Programs for transfer include everything from Nursing to Criminal Justice, and Durham Tech has transfer agreements with a number of area colleges, sending many of its students to UNC Chapel Hill and North Carolina Central University.  Tuition for residents of North Carolina is significantly reduced as compared to out-of-state tuition costs. Financial aid is available to those who qualify.
